It is built and running with the first schools using it. We are not open to sign up yet, and we would rather say so than take a registration we cannot honour this term.

The request

A teacher asks to go on something and says what it will cost. It arrives as a request with a number attached, not as a forwarded email.

The approvals

The department head agrees, the budget holder confirms there is money left, and only then is it a commitment. Every step is dated and kept.

The budget

One envelope for the year, split across departments, with every movement recorded rather than written over. What is committed and what is actually paid stay separate.

The money out

Flights, accommodation, daily expenses and fees, permitted by the department paying, approved before they are spent, then claimed back or settled with the vendor directly.

The record

Every course, workshop and conference a teacher attends, whether or not it runs on our platform. Provider, dates, cost, hours earned, and the certificate at the end of it.

Putting the workshop on yourself, with registration, attendance at the door and certificates at the end, is Slate.
